World Afro Day September 15 is one of the most exciting international events of 2018. This is a global day of change, education and celebration of Afro Hair (but it’s impact goes far beyond!) World Afro Day lessons are being taught across the globe and the official celebratory event is growing this year. Would you like the opportunity to be a partner/sponsor?
2017 - A GREAT SUCCESS
In 2017, World Afro Day (WAD) was endorsed by the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. We successfully launched with a World Record, educating 400 children from diverse backgrounds about hair. It received extensive media support on the BBC and ITV with international support from Yahoo, Now This, Essence and Harper’s Bazaar, totalling 2.5 million coverage views.
2018 - BIGGER AND BOLDER
The 2018 event will be bigger and bolder, in the form of World Afro Day film competition giving children and young adults the opportunity to create their own 'celebration film" because they're worth it!
They will star, direct and produce their own commercials and inspire their peers globally. Children and young adults with all hair types can take part but the main character has afro textured hair. The prize will be a TV studio experience and offer great engagement with the audience and further profile for a sponsor.
