The Big WAD Lesson
"Fix the Law, not our Hair"

We believe that education can create community and understanding, so this World Afro Day, 15th of September 2025, we are inviting everyone to join us in attempting a Guinness World Record. The Big WAD Lesson will celebrate Afro hair, culture, history and change. It will be the Guinness World Record attempt for the “largest cultural awareness lesson in 24 hours.” The lesson is co-created by award winning teacher, Genevieve Bent MBE and the World Afro Day Team.
- The free 30-minute, interactive online lesson is a recording.
- Participants must log on, as an individual via their laptops or phone.
- Participants must interact with the lesson and fully complete the 30 minutes.
- The record is for the total number of lessons completed within a 24 hour period.
“Guinness World Records applauds the work being done by the World Afro Day team to shine a light on Afro hair discrimination and its mission to flip the narrative to tell a more positive story.” Adam Millward, GWR’s Senior Managing Editor
