BUSINESS
The Big WAD Lesson was created with companies in mind, to learn as a community and have cross cultural conversations with their colleagues. What does it mean to look professional and why does Afro textured hair fit or not fit into this perception? We hope that this learning exercise will be the start to more meaningful change and acceptance of different hair expressions in careers and workplaces. If the attempt is successful, individual and company certificates will be available, directly from Guinness World Records.
Why not become a host business:
- Host a World Afro Day® with the Guinness World Record lesson at the heart of it.
- Encourage colleagues to wear their hair in its natural state.
- Connect with different colleagues in locations around the world.
- Host a live event and after lesson discussion.
- Host a lunch & learn or business breakfast before the Big WAD Lesson, Guinness World Record attempt.

15th September, 2025 is the ninth anniversary of World Afro Day. You are invited to join the Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Cultural Awareness Lesson in 24 hours. The Big WAD Lesson is about Afro hair, culture, history and change. We hope that this is an opportunity to unite people from around the world and learn to embrace our differences and create more cohesive workplaces, schools and communities.
The virtual lesson recording is online and can be taken anywhere, within a 24 hour period, but only individual logins will be registered as part of the record attempt total number. Individual participants must fully interact and complete the full 30 minute lesson. The lesson will include video and will be co-created by award winning teacher, Genevieve Bent MBE, the World Afro Day team and other contributors.
