SCHOOL

The World Afro Day® theme for 2025 is “Learning, Creating, Uniting.” so we’re really excited to be joining with schools around the world to create a Guinness World Record. If the attempt is successful, individual and school certificates will be available from Guinness World Records directly.
Secondary Schools
We hope thousands of young people will be able to make history by joining our Big WAD Lesson about Afro hair, culture, history, identity and law. The lesson will be a 30 minute interactive, online lesson recording, which is our Guinness World Record attempt for the largest cultural awareness lesson in 24 hours – The Big WAD Lesson.
The Big WAD Lesson is more than a class — it’s a shared experience, designed to spark real understanding in every classroom. The lesson is co-created by award winning educator, Genevieve Bent MBE and the World Afro Day Team.

Primary Schools
Register today for our resources to help your learners celebrate World Afro Day and World Afro Week, September 15th to 21st, 2025. Get loud and colourful by creating campaign posters: “Fix the Law, Not Afro Hair.” Send your letters to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer telling him why he should create a new law, protecting Afro hair, for the next generation.
As a bonus, kids may want to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt at home with their parents or guardians but the lesson is aimed at young people and adults.
This ninth anniversary of World Afro Day, 15th September 2025. You are invited to join the Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Cultural Awareness Lesson in 24 hours – The Big WAD Lesson is about Afro hair, culture, history and law. We hope that this is an opportunity to unite people from around the world and learn to embrace our differences; creating more cohesive workplaces, schools and communities.
