Why Become a WAD Ambassador?

World Afro Day® is more than just a date on the calendar, it’s a movement that unites people from all backgrounds to celebrate Afro hair while advocating for systemic change. As an Ambassador, you will:

Champion Afro Hair Acceptance

Help rewrite narratives around Afro textured hair by sharing educational resources, personal stories, and local initiatives.

Shape Policy and Perception

Grow a Global Community

Connect with fellow Ambassadors via our dedicated WhatsApp group, virtual meetings, and in-person gatherings. Together, we’ll organize events, lead workshops, and build a support network that spans continents.

Be Part of Guinness World Record Initiatives

Play an active role in our Guinness World Record attempt for the “Largest Cultural Awareness Lesson in 24 Hours.” Your efforts will help us reach thousands of participants and spark conversations about Afro hair, heritage, and equality.

World Afro Day Mission & Values

As a WAD Ambassador:

I acknowledge the following truths that reflect the urgency of our mission:

  • People of African heritage, uniquely face global systems against their Afro hair.
  • We believe that it is time to be the head and not the tail and take back control of Afro textured hair.
  • Governments – “Fix the Law, Not Afro Hair” is a call for just laws to end Afro hair discrimination.
  • Schools – Embrace, empower and educate about Afro hair.
  • Employers – Create awareness, training and policies to foster Afro hair acceptance.
  • Health – Advocate for cleaner Afro hair products and increase exercise.
